Understanding Morpheus8 Treatments

If you’re looking for anti-aging treatments or treatments to help reduce the appearance of scars, you may want to consider the latest microneedling procedure: Morpheus8. It’s an exciting treatment used to create a smoother more contoured facial appearance. The name might seem scary at first, but Morpheus8 penetrates deeply without being invasive, making it super effective without the risks and recovery time required by more invasive procedures like surgery.

Thinking about Morpheus8 but want to learn more? In this article, we will answer all your questions about the procedure, who it’s best for, potential side effects, and what you can expect.

What is Morpheus8?

Morpheus8 is one of the newest fractional microneedling skin rejuvenation treatments. The procedure is non-surgical and minimally invasive. Morpheus8 uses a special device known as SARD (subdermal adipose remodeling device) to apply gentle heat deep into the tissue by penetrating the skin and fat with microneedles. This thermal heat helps to contour and remodel facial tissue. Morpheus8 also helps to protect the deeper dermal layers of skin.

The difference between Morpheus8 and other microneedling procedures is that this device also uses radiofrequency. Both microneedling and radiofrequency energy are two skin rejuvenation treatments that have had proven effects. It relies on waves of energy to head up the underlying tissue which triggers the coveted collagen and elastin production. That’s how it tightens, firms, and plumps up your skin.

The procedure is very effective for most skin types and tones. Morpheus8 treatment is gaining popularity because it’s effective at encouraging your body to produce more collagen and elastin over time. In this way, it’s actually putting your body to work to maintain the effects and create real skin rejuvenation that lasts.

The Procedure

During a Morpheus8 procedure, the device is applied directly to the area where it delivers gentle heat to the tissues. The treatments are uniform thanks to the consistent and controlled delivery achieved by the Morpheus8 device.

During treatment, many patients report feeling the warmth produced by the device, but little pain is felt. However, your provider may apply a local anesthetic to decrease the sensations from the heat, radiofrequency, and microneedles. Once the skin has been desensitized, treatment begins. The motion used to apply treatment is similar to stamping and only lasts a few seconds in each area.

Am I a Good Candidate?

Men and women ages 30 to 55 with visible aging signs may be good candidates for Morpheus8 treatments. Patients who have active acne or acne scars that haven’t responded to other medications might also wish to consider Morpheus8.

Is Morpheus8 the right choice for the areas you wish to renew? The most commonly treated areas include the face, neck, and abdomen. Morpheus8 can be beneficial for tightening loose skin with underlying fatty tissue in the abdominal area.

It’s a safe and effective treatment option for most adults. Morpheus8 can be used for most skin tones and types, including those with a reduced risk of hyperpigmentation. At your consultation with Dr. Simpson, she will assess your skin and come up with a plan that will cater to your needs.

The Results

Morpheus8 changes begin immediately after the first treatment, but it can take a few days to begin seeing results. Depending on the extent of rejuvenation you desire, a series of 2 to 4 treatments may be needed. Dr. Simpson will determine the correct number of treatment sessions with a consultation and skin assessment.

Since the results of the Morpheus8 microneedling treatment aren’t immediate, many patients will need multiple sessions to see optimal results. It’s worth remembering that it may take time to undo years of skin damage and aging, it likely won’t happen immediately.

How Long Does Morpheus8 Last?

This treatment can last for up to a year, so you will need to get annual follow-ups to maintain the results and increase collagen production.

Recovery

Morpheus8 treatments are minimally invasive and considered non-surgical. There is no predetermined amount of downtime required following the procedure. Most patients can return to normal activity directly after treatment.

We will recommend you refrain from applying cosmetics for at least 24 hours after the procedure. Also, moisturizing after treatment and avoiding direct sun exposure can greatly reduce any mild skin irritation you may experience. If you will be exposed to the sun, be sure to apply a sunscreen with at least SPF 30 for skin protection from harmful UV rays.

After any microneedling procedure, some swelling, redness, and even minor bruising is normal. These effects are mild and temporary. Icing the treatment area after the procedure can help reduce swelling, redness, and irritation. Not to worry, these effects likely won’t last more than a few days after treatment.

How Much Does It Cost?

The cost of the procedure can vary greatly depending on location, your provider experience, and skill levels, the area you’re treating, and the number of treatment sessions needed. Keep in mind, Morpheus8 (like many other microneedling procedures) often requires multiple treatments.

Treatment can cost anywhere from $1,000 to $3,000 for a series of treatments.

Because Morpheus8 is a cosmetic procedure, insurance will not cover the treatment. At your consultation with Dr. Simpson, a treatment plan will be created and cost will be discussed. This will allow you to understand what costs are involved with your treatment plan.
