Plasma Rich Platelet/PRP

What is PRP?
Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) is converted into Platelet-rich Fibrin (PRF) with our easy in office treatment. PRP refers to platelets in plasma, where the platelet concentration is generally considered to be twice the normal concentration in whole blood. Platelets are known to release a variety of growth factors that respond to tissue injury. This stimulates a healing response and triggers the release of growth factors that regenerates collagen production to smooth out texture (lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, and scars).
How is PRP used?
PRP is often combined with microneedling. Microneedling is an FDA approved treatment for collagen stimulation in the skin. By puncturing the skin with tiny microscopic needles, it creates microchannels in the epidermal layer of the skin. This stimulates a healing response and regeneration of collagen production to heal the microchannels. When PRP is microneedled into the skin, it enhances the growth factor response to stimulate collagen when combined. It also speeds up the healing process and recovery time from microneedling.
PRP is injected into the skin to improve deep creases. Commonly injected under eyes, nasal labial folds (smile lines) and lip lines.
PRP is used for hair growth stimulation in both men and women with thinning hair. Injecting PRP into the areas of thinning hair stimulates new hair growth and strengthens existing hair follicles. A series of 4 treatments is recommended with seasonal maintenance treatment. Our providers will evaluate each individual and customize a treatment plan that will include our in office PRP injections, an at home hair strengthening system and clinically tested, 100% drug-free Nutrafol hair supplements.
The PRP Process:
- 1. A small amount of the patient’s own blood is drawn into a vacuum collection tube containing a cell separator gel.
- 2. The tube/tubes are then placed into a centrifuge and spun to separate the PRP from the blood.
- 3. The PRP is extracted from the tube and is ready to be used.
