Plasma Rich Platelet
What is PRP?
Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) is converted into Platelet-rich Fibrin (PRF) with our easy in-office treatment. PRP refers to platelets in plasma, with a concentration typically twice that of whole blood. Platelets release various growth factors in response to tissue injury, stimulating a healing response and triggering collagen regeneration. This helps smooth skin texture by addressing lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, and scars.
How is PRP used?
PRP is often combined with microneedling, an FDA-approved treatment for collagen stimulation. Microneedling creates tiny microchannels in the skin using microscopic needles, stimulating a healing response and promoting collagen regeneration. When PRP is applied during microneedling, it enhances the growth factor response, boosting collagen production and accelerating the healing process and recovery time.
PRP can also be injected directly into the skin to improve deep creases. Common injection areas include under the eyes, nasolabial folds (smile lines), and lip lines.
Additionally, PRP is used to stimulate hair growth in men and women with thinning hair. By injecting PRP into thinning areas, it stimulates new hair growth and strengthens existing follicles. A series of four treatments is recommended, with seasonal maintenance treatments. Our providers will customize a treatment plan, which may include in-office PRP injections, an at-home hair-strengthening system, and clinically tested, 100% drug-free Nutrafol hair supplements.
The PRP Process:
- 1. A small amount of the patient’s own blood is drawn into a vacuum collection tube containing a cell separator gel.
- 2. The tube/tubes are then placed into a centrifuge and spun to separate the PRP from the blood.
- 3. The PRP is extracted from the tube and is ready to be used.
Benefits of PRP:
- Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
- Rejuvenate and plump sagging skin
- Soften deep creases
- Diminish scars and acne scars
- Improve overall complexion
- Stimulate hair growth and strengthen areas of thinning hair in men and women
