InMode Fractora™

Fractora is an FDA-approved advanced skin treatment that combines microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) technology. Often referred to as the “little brother” to Morpheus8, Fractora also leverages microneedling and RF to tighten the skin and correct crepey texture by stimulating collagen production. This results in significant skin tightening, wrinkle reduction, and scar remodeling, making it an effective solution for improving skin texture and addressing signs of aging.

While both Morpheus8 and Fractora combine microneedling with radiofrequency (RF) technology, they differ in depth and treatment focus. Morpheus8 is designed to penetrate deeper layers of the skin, making it ideal for tackling more significant skin laxity, deeper wrinkles, and extensive textural issues. It’s often used for broader, more advanced treatments such as skin tightening on the face and body, as well as addressing deeper acne scars.

On the other hand, Fractora is better suited for more superficial concerns, targeting smaller areas with a more focused approach. It’s particularly effective for treating active acne and cystic acne, as it shrinks sebaceous glands to reduce oil production and prevent breakouts. Fractora is often recommended for patients with less severe skin laxity or those seeking targeted treatment for acne scars and finer wrinkles.

Ultimately, Morpheus8 is best for patients seeking deeper skin rejuvenation and tightening, while Fractora is ideal for those with active acne or more localized skin concerns.

Before your Fractora treatment, it’s important to take a few preparatory steps to ensure optimal results. Avoid sun exposure for at least two weeks prior to your procedure to reduce the risk of pigmentation issues or skin irritation. Discontinue the use of any retinoids, exfoliating products, or acne treatments a few days before the treatment, as they can increase skin sensitivity. If you’re using any blood-thinning medications, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, it’s advised to stop them a few days before your session to minimize the risk of bruising. Be sure to inform your provider about any medical conditions, allergies, or medications you’re currently taking. Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin so that the treatment can be performed effectively.

During the Fractora treatment, a topical numbing cream will be applied to ensure comfort, and you may feel mild sensations of heat or a slight prickling as the microneedles and radiofrequency energy penetrate your skin. The treatment typically lasts 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the areas being treated. While it’s generally well-tolerated, some patients may experience mild discomfort, which can be alleviated by the numbing cream and the built-in cooling system.

After the treatment, you may notice some redness, swelling, and mild discomfort, similar to a light sunburn, which is normal and usually subsides within a few hours to a couple of days. Pinpoint bleeding or scabbing may also occur in some cases, especially if deeper layers were treated. Over the next several days, you may experience mild peeling or flaking as your skin heals and rejuvenates. It’s important to follow the post-care instructions provided, which includew avoiding sun exposure, using gentle skincare products, and staying hydrated to promote healing. Results typically start to become visible within a few weeks, with optimal outcomes seen around 3 months after the procedure.
