What is Hormone Therapy?
BioTE™ is a form of hormone replacement that involves inserting pellets, which are tiny cylindrical supplements, under your skin. A steady supply of hormones is provided to your body over time, so optimal function can be achieved. Using BioTE™ pellets allows hormones to be delivered and distributed in a way that mimics the way your body distributes hormones it produces naturally. This means there is a much lower risk of side effects.

Why should I consider BioTe™ hormone therapy?
BioTE™ uses bioidentical hormones, which are synthetic hormones that have the same chemical structure as naturally produced hormones. As with natural hormones, bioidentical hormones are processed and eliminated by your body in a similar manner. The implant is replaced every three to six months, depending on your needs. At Seamist, we can perform implant placement within a few minutes using a local anesthetic. We have both estrogen and testosterone implants.
What are bioidentical hormones?
A bioidentical hormone is created from a natural plant source and professionally formulated to be biologically identical to human estrogen and testosterone. The body receives what it cannot produce on its own.
How often will I need a BioTE™ treatment?
It will depend on the individual, but it is usually every 4-6 months.
Will I be able to feel the pellets?
The pellets are no bigger than a tiny grain of rice. Pellets can sometimes be felt underneath the skin due to swelling, but these usually go away within 24 hours, or in some cases, up to a month, although this is rare.
What happens to the pellets after insertion?
The pellets gradually dissolve into the bloodstream and eventually disappear. Patients will know that their pellets need to be replaced when symptoms return.
What makes pellets different from other hormone therapies?
Pellet delivery systems allow your body to use the right hormones as required. When the blood flows around the pellets, it absorbs the hormones at the right time.
