Do you feel as if your face has lost its youthful contours? Have your cheeks or jaw line begun to sag? Do you want to improve these areas, but don’t want surgery? Juvéderm Voluma XC could be the answer.
The next generation of soft-tissue fillers has arrived at Sea Mist MedSpa, and at the forefront is Juvéderm Voluma XC. It’s a new type of filler that adds volume to the cheek area and thus provides a subtle lift to the face. Best of all, the effects of Juvéderm Voluma can last as long as two years.
Cosmetic patients across the country are loving this product, and the rejuvenating effect it has on their skin. You probably have a lot of questions. Let’s try to answer the most common ones.
What is Juvéderm Voluma XC, exactly?
Like many fillers, Juvéderm Voluma XC is comprised of hyalauronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance that can be found in abundance in young, healthy skin. As we age, our skin loses HA and the structure and volume it provides. This in turn leads to sagging, wrinkles and lines – like the parentheses lines so many of us get on the sides of our mouths.
ALL HA fillers, including the other Juvéderm products, Restylane and Belotero Balance, help fill and smooth mild to moderate wrinkles. However, ONLY Juvéderm Voluma XC is FDA-approved for adding volume to the face.
Does it really work?
In one recent study, nearly three out of four patients treated with Voluma for mid-face volume felt they looked younger than they did at baseline. On average, these patients believed they looked five years younger than their actual age.
Even more remarkable, patients felt that Voluma’s benefits persisted for a good, long time. At the two-year mark, more than half said they still felt they looked younger by an average of three years.
How many treatments will I need? Does it hurt?
Only one treatment is typically needed for optimal results. During treatment, patients will feel an initial prick, but Juvéderm Voluma contains a small amount of lidocaine to minimize this discomfort. A topical anesthetic can be applied to the injection area before treatment as well.
How long will it take to recover?
Juvéderm Voluma treatment requires almost no downtime. While it’s best to avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol and sun exposure for 24 hours post treatment, recovering patients can do pretty much anything else they please.
Are there side effects?
The most common side effects include tenderness, swelling, lumps, bumps, bruising, redness or itching at the site of injection. Usually these symptoms are mild to moderate and will generally clear up within one to four weeks.
